Where Can I Find A Great Selection Of Double Strollers For A 2 Year Old And A Newborn?
October 3rd, 2009 by jennie
I have a 2 year old and I’m due to have another baby in 2 weeks. I need some suggestions for a double stroller which will accommodate and a newborn infant car seat and a seat for a toddler. If anyone has made a similar purchase and has been happy with their selection, please let me know. Thanks

I searched everywhere for a good selection and had very little luck. I ended up getting a Jeep stroller (the kind that is one child in front of the other) and it is really hard to maneuver and it took up almost all my trunk space. Then I got a double Jeep stroller that is like a umbrella stroller except with 2 seats instead of one. I like it much more. Easy to turn, folds up small for easy trunk storage. The only problem is that they do not hold a infant seat, which can be inconvenient when you have a infant.

A graco dou Glider. I have one and it is great. I know that it can take a infant seat, it said so in the directions, but the back seat lies flat. I got it after my twins were out of the infant seats because our old, yard sale stroller broke. I love it and for a double, which is heavier and bigger than a single, is easy to move for me. I am 5′5″ 200lbs. It fits nicely in the very back of my town and country van. Walmart has it and it is not too OMG expensive. I am a real cheap person so saving money is my thing and I love this stroller.

We have a sit and stand – my daughter was 3 when my son was born – they are 2 and 5 (almost 3 and 6) and was still use it when we are going out. It works great.http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp…

Stroller shopping is always tedious. With my first two children (who were 3 years apart) we bought the Sit-n-Stand stroller. We liked it because it held a car seat on the front or, if you remove the brace, a child can sit in the front seat. Then, the older child can sit on the bench in the back too. My only complaint about that stroller is that the back seat is, as I said, merely a bench. There is nothing for them to lean against (i.e. they have to sit straight up – which is not going to last long with a toddler) and there is no seat belt. We often found our toddler walking right off the stroller – no fun! When our third baby came along, our son was only 18 months (yes, a newborn and an 18 month old — fun fun!). We decided to get a different double stroller that would work better for younger kids. So, we went to Target (they always have a great selection and often the best prices) and we got the Eddie Bauer Transit Tandem stroller. We love this stroller! It does not hold a car seat, but after three kids we found that we dreaded carrying the car seat around anyway. This stroller is compact and very easy to take places. The newborn can lay in the back while he/she is still small and within a couple of months he/she should be able to use either the front or back seat.
Otherwise, I might suggest a double jogging stroller. They look wide if you get a side-by-side one, but even so I have had no problems with the one I have. The good thing about jogging strollers is that they are rugged and comfortable for walking outdoors, and yet versatile enough for walks at the mall. My jogger (Baby Trend Expedition) takes very little effort to push – not heavy at all and my kids are now 16 months and 33 months. Both seats recline independently too, which is a wonderfully useful feature — especially when your baby is still small.
Good luck with the stroller shopping. I have definitely been through more than my share of strollers and it seems like every one of them has their pros and cons.

I have a double stroller….I wanted one so bad. I had a 17 month old and a newborn. Well…the stroller is very hard to push, and is big. So when you go to a store, you are better off using the shopping cart. Don’t get me wrong it is nice to go for walks in, but I honestly don’t recommend it.
