For my son I put the plastic ones that do not require batteries into a sink of hot water. I add 1/4 cup of clorox bleach and let them soak until the water is cool to the touch. Remove and let them drain in a dish rack or dry them. All clean and sanitized. It’s great if they’ve been sick especially because it will kill all the nasty germ bugs they’ve come in contact with!
For stuffed animals I just put them into the wash machine and wash them. The ones with the longer brushed looking hair though I run through in a pillow case and let air dry otherwise the hair melts. All the other ones though do fine in the dryer on a normal setting.
For stuff with batteries or electronics I use a clorox wipe. They do have a cold and flu specific wipe that in your case would be great if the kids have been sick. It cleans them up and sanitizes them in one swoop. A Mr. Clean magic eraser also works great on play houses and bigger plastic toys, chalkboards and things like that as needed.

I agree with hot soapy water but you could also use a 50/50 solution of water and peroxide. If you are looking for a non toxic/healthy way to clean.

PLEASE do not use Clorox or chemicals on your baby’s toys… baby’s put their hands in their mouths and then put the toys in their mouths … do you really want your baby to be lapping up Clorox or chemicals? Yes the chemical residue is still on the toys and that will go into your baby’s mouth……
the best thing would be organic soap ( like seventh generation) and water
or this is even better
the germ guardian toy sanitizer
“The easy, foolproof way to sanitize toys, pacifiers, and bottles! In just 30 minutes, our automatic sanitizer kills the germs that cause RSV, colds, flu, ear ache, diarrhea, and more. In fact, it’s proven to kill 99.9% of germs! Works with dry heat, not harsh chemicals, so it won’t shrink or fade fabrics or melt rubber or plastic items. Great shower gift! “

Disinfectant.
You can either wipe them over with a dettol wipe, or you can buy this stuff called Zoflora, dilute one cap of that in a bowl of water and chuck all the baby toys on the washing up bowl. Leave them to soak for a few mins, then rinse and leave on the sink rack to dry naturally.
Anything that goes in your babies mouth tho could do with being sterilised in the baby steriliser.
Hope i helped! xx
Edit: Whats with the thumbs down?? Disinfectant is the only way to kill germs and bacteria that cause colds on toys…

Good ol’ bleach is the best way to kill germs. Disinfect washable colorfast toys with a solution of 3/4 cup Clorox® Regular-Bleach per gallon of water. Soak for 5 minutes, rinse and air dry.
)
You can also sanitize toys with hard, nonporous surfaces (or plastic toys) daily by spraying with Clorox® Anywhere® Hard Surface® daily sanitizing spray.
Being an in-home daycare provider and mother of 3 young kids, I do this frequently

I run my daughters hard plastic toys through the dish washer, then I sanitize them in a mixture of 1Tbs bleach to 1 gallon water.
For her larger toys I use hot soapy water in the bath tub, then I use the Clorox anywhere spray on the hard surfaces.
As for her stuffed toys, washer and dryer, use a hot water setting.

I still think hot water and soap is the simplest, safest, and best way too clean. Think about it, that’s about all our parents had available when we were babies.
