What Is The Theme/style/colors Of Your Baby’s Nursery?

October 17th, 2009 by jennie

Just curious…what colors/themes/styles are all you soon-to-be mom’s decorating your nursery in?
I have an animal/alphabet theme for my upcoming son…walls are pear green and the crib is black. Bedding is fairly neutral and I bought cute animal alphabet wall cards from Land of Nod.

Who cares? You are only doing this for yourself and to show off to your friends. Trust me, the kid won’t care!
Make it easy to clean and make sure you don’t run out of essentials; keep it organized.
Fill it with books that will be read to your Angel everyday.
Put in lots of pillows, toys, blankets that have various textures for baby to touch.
    A good rocking chair.
A plush rug to play on.
Place pictures of close family members opposite baby’s headboard so they will recognize family members.
A change table with a strap to hold baby safely.
A battery-operated light should you lose power.
A list of emergency numbers and close friends / family.
Keep crib away from window, drafts and hanging cords.
Plastic totes can hide lots of junk and dirty laundry should company visit.

Mine is called froggy love… its very light pink and purple adn green… i wasnt to crazy about pink… but its a girl… what can I do?
The frogs and turtles actually reminded me of when my mom used to draw them for me.

One whole wall’s theme is “books.”
Another wall’s theme is “storage for clothing.”
The other two are “old boxes of junk Mummy and Daddy will get around to moving someday when baby actually has an interest in having a room of her own.” We have a classic alphabet frieze with nice pictures beside the bed in the master bedroom, and a couple of mobiles, and yet more books. The living room is accumulating toys.
    I am so glad I didn’t bother with a nursery, never mind a crib…

My daughter’s nursery theme is crazy flowers! Her walls our a really light pink, and the border is this awesome lilac color. Then, on the top part of the walls, we have those colored foam flowers stuck everywhere. There’s also a huge picture of her hanging on the wall in a Butterfly costume, and right above her changing table is her name in block letters…..it’s my favorite room in the house. To bad she won’t sleep in there…LOL

With my daughter her room was pink and lavender with ballerina teddy bears. I’m pregnant with a boy and the two will have to share a room for awhile so I’m thinking of decorating the room with a Hawaiian theme with hula girls on my daughters side and surfboards and old woody cars on my son’s side.

  7. Precious Says:

All colors (pastel) but the main one is a pale green and blue.
Cute jungle animals all over. =) Crib is just a medium oak color.
We live in an apartment right now so no painting of the walls =/

  8. Sally Says:

Mine daughter’s was pink gingham curtains and the rest was just neutralish. The room was only 8 feet X 10 feet so couldn’t do much. Then the second one came along and there were 2 beds, a changing table and 2 dressers in there.

  9. Sweet Cupcake Says:

  16. Tink's Mommy Says:

The walls are either 2 yellow, 2 orange, very bright. The curtains etc all the same sort of shades. The border and pictures and bedding is all circus animal theme. Very bright & bold, and it has lasted 2 kids now, and the eldest was happy with it until she was 3 and got moved to a bigger room.

congrats on the new baby boy!
we’re expecting a little boy as well. at first we really wanted to go with the beach theme because that describes us perfectly and fits his name at the same time, but then we changed our minds and went with safari. a light celery green is the most outstanding color right now, though most of his clothes are of course blue & other little things are blue. the crib is a medium wood finish. we think it’s really cute!

  18. fiore Says:

My first boy (6 years ago) was Snoopy, my daughter was/is Care Bears and my soon to be here son is having Sesame Street. I always choose characters, not sure why, but I do!
