Creating a usable closet for your nursery is a challenge. Bringing a baby into the house can mean that you suddenly have a lot of stuff to store. Keeping organized is necessary for every new parent. You need to have a place for everything or it can quickly get out of hand. Design a closet that has room to spare, no matter how little space you think you have.

Because of safety issues and the need for floor space, many parents are choosing not to invest in expensive, bulky furniture for the nursery. If you do have a dresser, make sure that it is properly anchored to avoid tipping. Using the closet to create storage is a great idea. Not only will you avoid the tipping hazard, but you will leave more play space in the floor for your child and you can keep little hands away from the tempting stacks of laundry!

Drawers tend to hide folded clothes so that you have to dig through them to find what you are looking for. A lot of times, this means that your carefully folded stacks quickly become piles of clothes crammed in the drawer. You know what furniture you want.  You have even selected colors and a theme.  But, you are looking for some unique ideas to spruce up your nursery.  Use these tips to make things more convenient, organized, unique and stylish.

Recessed shelving adds a special flare to any room, but it is especially useful in a nursery.  Recessed shelves are not very deep and are just right for all of those tiny baby items.  It’s fairly easy to add recessed shelves.  Use a stud finder to determine where the shelves will fit.  Mark off the area that you would like to turn into shelves.  Cut out the sheetrock with a steak knife.  Fill in the gaps with plywood and 1×6 boards.  Add the shelves and paint.  This is a fairly simple project that is easy to do with two people.

Install a chair rail to really frame out the room.  Chair rails should be one third of the height of the ceiling.  Measure from floor to ceiling and divide by three. Use a level to mark a line all the way around the room.  Start somewhere easy, like against a door frame or window frame.  This first piece will be cut at a ninety degree angle.  Adjoining pieces should fit together with forty five degree cuts.  Go in one direction around the room.  Use a miter saw to cut the corners and joints at forty five degrees.  This will give you a professional finish.  Recess the nails, fill the holes and sand the surface.  Use paintable caulk to seal the chair rail to the wall.  Most walls are not totally flat, so don’t be surprised if you have a gap to fill.  Let it dry and you’re ready to paint.

A long storage bench is another great addition to the nursery.  You may decide to use an entire wall for this, or build a bench between two bookshelves around a window for a beautiful window seat.  Measure and build a basic box to fit the area.  Cut the front piece a little lower than the rest to allow for closure without smashing little fingers.  You may decide to make multiple lids for a really long seat.  Secure box to studs with screws.  Install lids with torsion hinges made for toy boxes.  This will allow the tops to stay in the position that they are put in and easily close without slamming shut.  Use decorative pillows, paint or stencils to personalize the space.

Whether you are adding storage or decoration, your nursery will look great.  Don’t neglect the closet when you are adding storage.  Use baby hangers to keep clothes from getting misshapen or torn.  Infant hangers not only look great, but maximize the storage capacity of a closet.  Have fun with your nursery and be proud of the style that you created yourself.

Whether you’re looking for nursery decor or bedroom decor, one thing is for certain: both of them have to create an environment where children can both learn and have huge amounts of fun. Again, this is something that is suited to both the bedroom and the nursery and could prove to be a very good exercise in artistic creation for those young, uncoordinated hands to help them steady and develop.

And last but not least, when it comes to nursery decor and bedroom decor, is the aspect of environmental friendliness. The reason for using eco-friendly furniture is not only because it is good for the environment or that it will put the child in a place where he’ll be exposed to environmental care. It’s for the simple fact that environmental-friendly items are usually more child friendly than their normal counterparts, which means the children will be safer, too.

That being said, we’d suggest you start by choosing a theme and working your way up from there. One of the most successful themes around is the train theme due to its many colors and the variety of shapes. But, if you can think of a better one, then by all means. Just ensure that there are enough suppliers with a wide variety of items for that theme that will enable you to purchase more items when the time comes. Oh, and do take care to ask whether those items are all built with the environment in mind to give your kids the best mother nature has to offer.

In addition to being a sustainable source, bamboo is extremely soft as well as a natural repellant for dust mites and bacteria. Autumn, what a romantic, wonderful time to get married!

Whether you want your autumn wedding to be very formal, most casual or somewhere in between, you have an enormous variety of possibilities.

Ideas for Centerpieces

Before placing a centerpiece, you may strew fall leaves on the reception tables and on the cake tale.

Place A Horn of plenty, a basket or a hollowed pumpkin lined with fall leaves or popcorn and filled with fall fruit, berries, nuts, gourds, mini-pumpkins and-or acorns as your centerpiece.

Pumpkin Ice Sculpture Carve out the inside of pumpkins and place candles in them. If you plan a buffet, you may line hollowed pumpkins with foil and using them as serving dishes.

Fall floral arrangements in a straw basket or hollowed pumpkin.

Place 3 or 4 fall color candles of various sizes in hurricane lamps. The candles may be cinnamon, cranberry, spice or apple scented.

Place leaf or pumpkin shaped floating candles in a bowl, set it on a layer of fall leaves or straw.

Paint or spray mini pumpkins and gourds and group them together.

A real plant with real blooming flowers makes a great gift for guests. Chrysanthemums of many colors are pretty, very reasonably prices and you can get them everywhere; Wal Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc…

Display b bales of hay

If you have children, let them participate. Ask them to string cranberries, candies and popcorn and add them to your table decorations.
